We are getting ready to go back in time at Iowa Public Television.

Starting in March, IPTV Sports will return to the statewide network with the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s State Basketball Tournament.

Easy for you to read, but will it be simple for me to say? I’ll be serving as your host of our coverage beginning Friday evening at 530p on both the network and IPTV.org. We begin with a pregame show before the 1A and 2A finals. Saturday will find us on the air at 330p with the pregame and three title tilts to follow with 3A, 4A and 5A.

Colo-Nesco opens the 2014 state tourney Monday at 10a.

Our crew will include the talented folks that bring you local programming on IPTV and some new additions you may already know. BJ Schaben and Laura Leonard will call 1A, 3A and 4A games. Ric Silvestrini and Molly Nelson will team up for the 2A and 5A title games at Wells Fargo Arena. I’ll be your host throughout the two days as we show you all the pageantry of the tournament.

The Carlisle Wildcats capped an improbably U-Turn from 2013 to 2014.

We will be your home for the girls sports championships of basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball. The boys tournaments will air somewhere else. You know the saying, ‘check your local listings.’

IPTV has partnered with IGHSAU for these sports plus a look at some of the other great achievements of the Iowa girl. We are really excited about what we have in store for you this March.

I’ll do my best to keep you updated throughout the week through my twitter page of @paulyeager . And check out this Flipboard magazine that you can view on your desktop or via the app found on iOS or Android. Or check this new Facebook page for updates.

If you know of a good story, let me know and we will see what we can do to incorporate that into our broadcast.

It has been a lot of fun to see some games this year. I’ve seen state qualifiers Dowling Catholic, Ballard, Colo-Nesco, Carlisle and a couple of other teams that came up just a bit short.

See you on press row this week at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
