My 2013 Season High School Football Previews

Valley Stadium home stands and pressbox
The Valley Stadium pressbox will be my Friday night home for a few weeks. See you under the lights.

This site is about to wander from the media musings and head into Iowa High School football season.

Again this fall, I’ll be doing games from Valley Stadium. Some weeks I’ll be covering the Valley Tigers and other weeks I’ll be following the Dowling Catholic Maroons.

You can already watch past games at If you have trouble viewing the videos, try Internet Explorer for your browsing needs outside of West Des Moines, Iowa.

Be sure to check out the Facebook pages and Twitter feeds for each school. ValleyWebcasting is the Valley Facebook page and the Twitter handle is @ValleyWebcast.

We also have the DowlingWebcasting page and the @DowlingWebcast twitter feeds for your use.

The first video previews the 2013 Valley Tigers. Gone are some key players at quarterback, wide receiver and on the line. Returning are two good running backs named Tyus Mason and Drew Gray and other defensive players looking to add to the Tiger legacy of Gary Swenson. My conversation is audio only and some pictures from a recent Valley practice.

Our first webcast is Friday, August 30 when Waukee comes to Valley Stadium. Our stream goes live at 7p for a 730p kickoff. Paul Yeager, Keith Borness, Seth Drury and Romelle Slaughter will be in the booth for you.

The Dowling Catholic Maroons know they have a target on their back, not just because they are Dowling, but because they have one of the best teams, on paper, coming back this season in 4A. Two key players return from injuries in Jake Kirvin and Ryan Boyle. Add in some new players, including transfers, and the Maroons are loaded for bear.

I caught up with head coach Tom Wilson to talk about his 2013 squad.

Our first Dowling webcast is Friday, September 6th from Drake Stadium for the Valley/Dowling game. Paul Yeager, Billy Battistone, Seth Drury and Romelle Slaughter will be with you beginning at 7p.

Don’t worry, I’ll still have stories of Elizabeth Klinge anchoring mornings at KCCI and Ross Peterson hosting Soundoff on WHO Radio following Iowa Hawkeye Football or even Mark Amadeo doing Grand View Vikings play-by-play for football this season.

Who knows, it may soon be reporter hat season…
