By the numbers: Fort Dodge and Dowling Catholic

A few numbers to chew on ahead of the Fort Dodge game. The big preview story will post at 10pm Thursday.

In four games, Dowling Catholic has outscored its opponents 209-14. (Valley 34-7, CBTJ 69-0, East 56-7, Urbandale 52-0)

Per game, the Maroons are averaging 52.25 points per game while allowing 3.5 points per game. I know some baseball teams that would love to only give up that many a game. Yes, St. Louis Cardinals, I’m talking to you.

Of the teams the Maroons have played, their average record is 5-10 (Valley 3-1, CBTJ 1-4, East 0-3 and Urbandale 1-2).

The teams left on the schedule, including Friday’s opponent are 13-5 (FD 3-0, SEP 3-1, Ankeny 4-0, Johnston 1-2 and Indianola 2-2). The next three opponents are 10-1. Clearly, the meat of the schedule is here.

Fort Dodge has run past teams this year to wins of 54-9 over East, 24-0 over Urbandale and 43-14 over Sioux City North.
