5 good minutes in April ’11

This blog is all over the map. I admit that. I’ve got friends still reporting and anchoring and recovering from brain tumor removal surgery. (BTW, Fran was scheduled to go home on Monday. It is a miracle.)

One thing I do is keep track of my two boys. I like documenting their progress in life and the changes that are happening to them.

I started 2011 off in full detail, but recently I’ve spared you from too many mundane happenings, I leave those for their twitter feeds. @NoahYeager and @LeviYeager/

Each month I try to have a 5 minute conversation with the boys. The talk with Noah is pretty easy to do. The conversation with Levi is a little more challenging.

Noah is getting ready for kindergarten. He likes school, Toy Story, baseball, soccer and his mom. Here, we talk about a few things happening with him as he gets ready to graduate from preschool.

He’s the ham. I’m not sure where that comes from.

Levi is a little hard to pin down for an interview. He doesn’t like to be on the other side of the camera. He likes to see himself on my iPhone camera. It is a good thing he can watch himself while I talk to him. His ability to talk is quickly progressing. He’s babbling a lot (still not sure where that comes from) and now starting to form words. Since I recorded this video on April 5, 2011, he’s doing some animal sounds and more words like ball, mom, dad, papa and his best, no.

He’s a dancer, but I don’t have that fully captured on video yet.

The knot on his head looks much better and his eyebrow is slowly starting to grow back.

Climbing Cooper Mountain for 5 minutes in February

During 2011, my goal is to update this blog with tales of the Yeager boys.

A fun idea I’m stealing from others is to spend five good minutes with each boy and capture that conversation on tape on the 5th of each month.

Right now, I’m 2 for 2.

I spent some time with Noah outside on Saturday. We were playing in the snow. The weather was warm enough to allow for some play time. We made a snowman and threw snowballs. But the real fun was climbing the mountain.

So, I may regret a couple of those things later, but jumping from a snow pile to the snowy ground while covered in six layers is pretty safe.

Now, Levi on the other hand, still stays indoors most days. We spend our time with him in the basement showing off his new tricks for the month.

If you remember during last week’s posts, Noah made some silly videos. As my sister Kris said, Noah looks like Amy, but there’s no denying he’s your son.

5 good minutes

My goal for 2011 is to spend about 5 good minutes on video or audio with the boys on the 5th of every month.
So far, so good. But, it is only January. This is in addition to more dispatches on the boys.

I talked to Noah with audio only this morning. I may keep that just for me.

But here is a video with Noah and Levi earlier tonight. We were hanging out in the basement. Noah is his typically silly self while Levi just walks back and forth on the couch. At times, over, and on top of, Noah.

Earlier this week I wrote about my obsession with Brach’s Jube Jel Cherry Hearts. Noah said he liked them. That was until this morning with said yuck and started spitting out the candy.

I guess that leaves more for me to enjoy.
