The Price is Right — for Johnston

My hint last week about another KCCI anchor departing has been confirmed.

Emily Price will set sail from her weekend co-anchor chair and head to the land of Camp Dodge, Pioneer, Iowa Public Television and Cactus Bob’s as the new Public Information Officer for the city of Johnston.

The move comes after nearly 5 years on the weekend shift that in recent times put her in direct competition with her husband, Dave Price, the weekend evening anchor at WHO-HD.

The newly-created PIO job in Johnston drew a lot of attention. At least 140 applications were received for the position.

That makes two traditionally held female anchor slots open at Channel 8, one in the weekend evenings and the other in the mornings, a slot most recently held by Katie Ward.

Reporter Patrick Bell already departed the station this summer for a corporate job with John Deere Financial.

Another former KCCI reporter, Travis Graven, joined Iowa Public Television this week as a producer/director. He comes to IPTV from the Des Moines Register. That makes five Wartburg College alums working at IPTV. Seriously, homecoming should come to us now.

And this gem was posted late Wednesday night. It is an old promo from WQAD featuring Jim King, Thom Cornelis, Matt Hammill and several other faces Quad Citians had likely let slip their minds. Enjoy. I mean really, check out TC’s part of the reel. Great stuff from the fall of 1980.

I knew TC has mad skills, but not like that! Also, I didn’t nearly recognize Hammill in the video!
